The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged party members to forgive one another for misunderstandings and harsh exchanges that occurred during the recent campaign season, underscoring the need for unity as the party regroups for the future.

Addressing party faithful at the National Thanksgiving Service held at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Sunday, February 15, 2026, Dr. Bawumia appealed for reconciliation and renewed cooperation within the party.

He acknowledged that political campaigns can sometimes generate tension and strong words but stressed that healing and togetherness must now take priority.

“On this day as we celebrate and give thanks together, I want to ask all of us, from the bottom of my heart, that we forgive each other for some of the unpalatable things we may have said during the campaign,” he stated.

Dr. Bawumia noted that encouraging signs of reconciliation had already begun to emerge, with several party members reaching out to mend strained relationships following the elections.

While admitting that the healing process is still ongoing, he commended members for taking initial steps toward rebuilding trust and strengthening party cohesion.

He emphasised that unity will be critical as the NPP reorganises and prepares for the next phase of its political journey.
